Guilherme Pella, Nícolas Rutzen – ASTAN BIKE

In a world where consumption is increasing more and more, it is more than necessary to rethink the means of production of products. That’s where ASTAN was born, a bike made of natural fibers that is lighter and stronger than aluminum bikes. Made using laser cutting technology, glued with vegetable resins.
According to researchers from universities in Santa Catarina in Brazil, and São Carlos in São Paulo, ASTAN has shown itself to be a 95% more sustainable production process than aluminum and carbon fiber.
ENGINEERING: Patented as an innovation, ASTAN has a lattice frame, which follows the grain of the wood fiber, which increases its resistance, absorbing more impacts and vibrations, increasing pedaling comfort.
NATURE: Another reference to its iconic and striking design is the roots and all natural shape of the trees, as well as its rear fork, shaped like two triangles that reference human lungs.
BIOMIMETIC: The frame as a whole, resembles a butterfly wing, with its lightness of only 4.5 kg and hollow.
