HJC identified the top 3 users of inflator products by riding style. Through research into how the different rider types used tyre care products it was clear that usage varied across the categories. Competitive road cyclist wanted quick access, rapid inflation and minimum weight whist commuters and mountain bike riders generally carried accessories loosely in rucksacks and weren’t as weight or time conscious. The research made strong case for a new line of inflator accessories that offered the flexibility and functionality the different rider types required.
For the new line of accessories it was important to create a new, distinctive design language that resonated with the target users and elevate the new range above competitors.
HJC developed a range of frame mounted and bundle concepts, prototypes were produced early in the process and validated with Weldtite throughout. As avid biking enthusiasts ourselves our team o designers we’re continuously trying out the prototypes for functional and ergonomic improvements.
