John Swain – Arborist Chainsaw

This concept is an exploration for a new electric arborist chainsaw designed to improve safety and ergonomics by using a novel component and grip configuration. The internal components and saw blade are flipped ninety degrees in relationship to the traditional handle layout, which allows the user to operate the saw in its natural orientation directly outward from the body. This moves the cutting blade away from the upper body which reduces the likelihood of injury, allows for a neutral wrist ankle, and also improves one-handed reach.
