The Boom Supersonic airliner is being designed as a super fast, but affordable, solution for the near future. The plane will travel at Mach 2.2, enabling it to slash the 15 hour Sydney to LA flight to around 6 hours.Although supersonic flight has existed for over 50 years, it hasn’t been efficient enough for everyday travel until now. By utilising modern technology and tapping into a wealth of industry knowledge, including Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic Spaceship Company, Boom have been able to develop a vision for the future.Over the last few months Katapult Design has been working with Boom to design an iconic interior space that is fitting for a plane that will fly this fast. Boom’s brief was to create a unique, luxury feel that is focused on the UX. The resulting concept delivers passenger comfort, innovative features and a more personalised journey. We think it looks pretty cool too.
