Eskera topographical stump stool The Esker stool is a sculpted piece of nature that is a unique record of the region in which it was created. This cedar stool was a collaboration between Nicholas Baker and Madison Heim. Esker was created in Lacoste, a medieval village on the side of a hill in southern France. The lower section of the stool is a tree stump found and uncovered in the forest. The stump was de-barked, sanded and leveled. The interior was hollowed out creating a small nook to store objects. The felt lid was quilted and free motion embroidered. The lines and hills embroidered into the felt lid portray the topography of Lacoste as well as emulate the natural grain of the log.
