In collaboration with SKYN® Condoms, we have created SKYNFEEL™ APPAREL. It’s a one-of-a-kind conceptual long jump suit for elite athletes made of SKYNFEEL™. With cutting edge design, drawing inspiration from biomimicry, SKYNFEEL™ APPAREL sets out to minimize body limitation and give extra airtime to the long jump athlete. The garment features dragonfly wing-inspired flaps located on the edge of the body, constructed from a thin layer of SKYNFEEL™ and reinforced by a geometric laser cut grid. Designed with the long jumper’s technique in mind, the flaps stay flat during the run, to open up with the jump – just as the athlete twists his arms and straightens his legs. The aerodynamic design creates an upward lift that could help long jumpers stay in the air just a little bit longer. Working with the SKYNFEEL™ material has been a way for both our studio and SKYN®, to explore the possibilities in future performance atlethic apparel. As the material easily molds in any shape and has the great properties of being super lightweight yet really strong. It has shown us new ways of innovating sportswear and creating an ultra-lightweight garment that could help long jumpers perform better.
