Anna is a breathing assistant that helps children to go through the sedation procedure that takes places prior to surgery. During our initial field research with Doctor Anna Bengan Bengtsson we observed the users customer journey, only to find out it is experienced as very frightening. We designed a simple handheld object in order to answer to doctor’s and child’s need. With light and sound feedback on the breathing, we distract the child’s attention, and stimulate the child to complete a full circle breathing pattern. This will benefit the sedation procedure positively and improve the child’s mental state of calmness.
